Mauro Francis joins Progress Vancouver's team as a council candidate in Vancouver's 2022 municipal election.
Francis is the Executive Director of the South Vancouver Community Policing Centre and a mentor at the East End Boys Club. He's a proud BCIT graduate and a strong advocate for public safety and his neighbourhood of East Vancouver.
"I'm excited to have Mauro joining our team," says Mark Marissen, Progress Vancouver's Mayoral Candidate.
"Mauro's longstanding community involvement speaks to his character, and his connection to Vancouver's Italian and Latin communities builds bridges. He will be a passionate voice for Vancouverites, especially young families, on our city council."
"Progress Vancouver and Mark Marissen are focused on building the housing we need, especially for young families like mine. We're going to end the paralysis at City Hall and deliver results," says Francis.
Mauro was a candidate with the Non-Partisan Association until the departure of John Coupar last week. "My decision to leave was because I committed to fight for a Vancouver that would be safe and welcoming to young families like mine." Francis insists, "the internal dynamics of the NPA were getting in the way of the campaign. I'm focused on fighting for Vancouverites, and I want to be part of a team that shares my focus: that team is Progress Vancouver".
Francis says his message to Vancouverites is clear, "October 15th, I'm asking my city to Choose Progress."
"We will Get. It. Done."
Before Labour Day, Progress Vancouver will announce the party's slate of nominated candidates for the 2022 Vancouver municipal election.
